Unfortunately, I have had a rather bad experience both times I came to the office. The first time, upon my initial appointment booking, I asked explicitly for a possibility to do both a cleaning and a checkup appointment since I have to take time off work. I was told it wasn't possible, and I was then booked for 4pm. However, in a couple of days I received a text notifying me that my appointment was moved to 3pm, without my consent or prior contact. I assumed - which admittedly in retrospect I shouldn't have - that there was an opening for both the checkup and the cleaning to be done at the same time, hence the rescheduling, but upon arrival I shortly found out it was just an appointment moved up without explicit agreement from my end, and I would still have to go back again, having taken extra time to come in early already. That brings me to my second visit. I was supposed to come in at 4pm, but on the day they asked me if I could come in at 3:30pm instead. I had some flexibility with work, so I chose to accommodate, however they still made me wait until pretty much 3:55pm when they finally were able to see me. They apologized for that - only after I asked if I would be seen shortly around 3:50pm. Then both the cleaning assistant and the dentist rushed through the work like there was a fire they were due to be putting out elsewhere, and as a result I ended up with a filling that started to feel off the moment the anesthesia began to subside. As a cherry on top, my final totals for the day were miscalculated, I was supposed to get a refund e-transferred which I never received, and having brought up my concerns about the filling feeling off as I was waiting for the accounting mistake to be rectified, I was essentially blamed for not noticing earlier when my mouth was still numb from anesthesia. And since the dentist was in such a hurry to rush out, I am supposed to be coming again. Very unfortunate, and I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere after this follow-up to get the filling adjusted. I really wanted to love the place since it was so conveniently located for me, but today was the last straw for sure.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Why Dental Implants Are the Gold Standard for Tooth Replacement
When a tooth is lost, the consequences extend well beyond the visible gap. The jawbone beneath the missing tooth begins to deteriorate within the first year—a process called “resorption”—because it is no longer receiving the stimulation it needs from a tooth root. Over time, this causes neighbouring teeth to shift, the face to change shape, and chewing ability to decline significantly.
Dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that addresses this problem at its source. Unlike dentures or bridges, a dental implant replaces the root of the missing tooth—not just the visible crown. A small titanium post is placed directly into the jawbone, where it fuses with the surrounding bone through a process called osseointegration. This creates a stable, permanent foundation for a natural-looking crown, bridge, or implant-supported denture placed on top.
According to the Canadian Dental Association, dental implants have a long-term success rate of over 95% and are considered the most durable, functional, and aesthetically natural tooth replacement option available in modern dentistry.
At Humber Bridge Dental, Dr. Roger Avila assesses every implant patient individually to confirm suitability, review all available options, and recommend the most appropriate treatment — whether that is a single implant, multiple implants, or a full-arch implant restoration.
Dental Implant Services at Humber Bridge Dental Etobicoke
Single Tooth Implant
A single dental implant replaces one missing tooth without affecting the adjacent healthy teeth on either side — unlike a traditional bridge, which requires those teeth to be permanently shaped and crowned. The implant post is placed into the jawbone, allowed to integrate over a healing period, and then restored with a custom porcelain crown matched precisely to the colour and shape of your surrounding teeth.
The result is a replacement tooth that looks, feels, and functions identically to a natural tooth — and that can last decades with proper care.
Implant-Supported Dentures
Traditional dentures sit on the gum surface and rely on adhesive or suction for retention. They move when you eat, can cause sore spots, and do nothing to prevent the bone loss that follows tooth loss. Implant-supported dentures solve all of these problems.
By anchoring your denture to a series of implants placed in the jawbone, we eliminate movement, dramatically improve chewing ability, and provide the bone stimulation that prevents ongoing facial bone loss. Implant-supported dentures are a life-changing upgrade for patients who are unhappy with the fit, function, or confidence that conventional dentures provide.
Humber Bridge Dental provides implant-supported denture consultations for both full upper and lower arch cases. If you have been searching for dentures near me or a denture clinic near me in Etobicoke that offers implant-anchored solutions, our team is equipped to help.
Multiple Tooth Implants
When several teeth are missing — whether adjacent or in different areas of the mouth — multiple implants can be placed to restore each tooth independently or to support an implant-retained bridge. This approach avoids the need for a removable partial denture and provides a stable, permanent solution that preserves jawbone health throughout the mouth.
All-on-4 Dental Implants
All-on-4 is a full-arch restoration technique that replaces an entire upper or lower set of teeth using just four strategically placed implants. The implants are angled to maximize contact with available bone—which means All-on-4 is often suitable for patients who have experienced significant bone loss and were previously told they were not candidates for conventional implants.
A full fixed arch of teeth is attached to the four implants, giving you a complete, permanently fixed smile without the need for bone grafting in most cases.
All-on-4 dental implants near me is one of the most frequently searched dental terms in West Toronto—and for good reason. It is among the most transformative restorations available for patients who have lost most or all of their teeth and want a permanent, non-removable solution.
Dr. Avila assesses every All-on-4 candidate thoroughly, including digital imaging and bone density evaluation, before recommending this treatment. If All-on-4 is the right option for you, we outline every step of the process clearly at your consultation.
Am I a Candidate for Dental Implants?
Dental implants are suitable for the majority of healthy adults who have lost one or more teeth. However, a thorough clinical assessment is essential before treatment begins, which is exactly why the consultation appointment at Humber Bridge Dental is so important.
- You are likely a strong candidate for dental implants if you:
- Have one or more missing teeth or teeth that cannot be saved
- Have adequate jawbone density to support an implant post
- Have healthy gums with no active periodontal disease
- Do not smoke, or are willing to stop smoking around the time of surgery
- Implants may require additional preparation—such as a bone graft or gum disease treatment—before placement if:
- Significant bone loss has occurred since the tooth was lost
- Active gum disease is present and needs to be resolved first
- Certain medical conditions or medications affect bone healing
Even if you have been told in the past that you are not a candidate for implants, it is worth a second opinion. Advances in implant techniques — including All-on-4 and short implant options — mean that more patients qualify today than ever before.
Dr. Avila reviews every case individually and gives you an honest, thorough assessment of your options—including whether implants are the right choice for your specific situation or whether an alternative such as implant-supported dentures or conventional dentures would serve you better.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions — Tooth Implant Etobicoke
How long do dental implants last?
With proper care and regular dental checkups, the implant post itself can last 20 to 30 years or longer — many last a lifetime.
Are dental implants painful to have placed?
The placement procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and is more comfortable than most patients expect.
How much do dental implants cost in Etobicoke?
Dental implant cost depends on the number of implants required, the type of restoration placed on top, whether preparatory treatment is needed, and your insurance coverage.
What is the difference between All-on-4 and regular dental implants?
A conventional single implant replaces one missing tooth with one implant post and one crown.
Can I get dental implants if I have dentures?
Yes. Many patients transition from conventional dentures to implant-supported dentures or All-on-4 to achieve a more stable, permanent result.
What is the difference between implant-supported dentures and conventional dentures?
Conventional dentures rest on the gum surface and rely on suction or adhesive for retention. They can move when eating and do not prevent ongoing bone loss in the jaw.
How do I know if I am a candidate for dental implants?
Most healthy adults with one or more missing teeth are candidates for dental implants. The key factors are sufficient jawbone density, healthy gums, and no uncontrolled systemic conditions that affect healing.
The Dental Implant Process at Humber Bridge Dental
Understanding each stage of treatment helps patients feel confident and prepared from the very first appointment.
Step 1
Consultation and Treatment Planning
Dr. Avila conducts a thorough examination, including digital X-rays and, where needed, a CBCT cone beam scan, to assess bone density and anatomy in three dimensions. He reviews your medical history, discusses your goals, and presents a complete written treatment plan with full cost transparency.
Step 2
Preparatory Treatment (Where Needed)
Some patients require bone grafting, tooth extraction, or gum disease treatment before implant placement can proceed. If this applies to you, Dr. Avila explains exactly what is needed, why it is necessary, and how long it will add to your overall treatment timeline.
Step 3
Implant Placement
The titanium implant post is placed into the jawbone under local anaesthetic in a straightforward surgical procedure. Most patients find the procedure significantly more comfortable than they anticipated. A healing cap is placed over the implant, and the site is allowed to heal.
Step 4
Osseointegration and Healing
Over the following three to six months, the implant fuses with the surrounding jawbone through osseointegration. This is what gives dental implants their exceptional stability and longevity. Most patients return to normal daily activities within a few days of placement.
Step 5
Crown, Bridge, or Denture Placement
Once osseointegration is confirmed, an abutment is attached to the implant post, and your final restoration—a crown, bridge, or implant-supported denture—is fitted and secured. Dr. Avila checks the fit, appearance, and bite meticulously before finalizing the restoration.
The result is a permanent, natural-looking tooth replacement that does not require removal for cleaning, does not rely on adhesive, and does not place any load on neighbouring teeth.
Caring for Your Dental Implants
One of the most appealing aspects of dental implants is how straightforward they are to maintain. Unlike dentures, implants do not require removal for overnight soaking, special cleaning solutions, or adhesive application. You care for them exactly as you would your natural teeth.
- Brush twice daily with a soft-bristle toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste
- Floss around the implant crown daily using implant-specific floss or an interdental brush.
- Attend regular professional cleaning appointments at Humber Bridge Dental—even implants accumulate plaque and tartar at the gumline
- If you grind your teeth at night, speak with Dr. Avila about a custom nightguard to protect both implants and natural teeth from excessive force
- Avoid chewing on ice, hard candy, or other extremely hard objects
With proper care and regular monitoring, dental implants can last 20 to 30 years or longer. Many last a lifetime. The crown component may require replacement after 10 to 15 years depending on wear, but the implant post itself is designed to be permanent.
