I have been a patient of this dentist for six years, and his expertise and professionalism have been consistently outstanding. Unfortunately, I have had a rather bad experience both times I came to the office. The first time, upon my initial appointment booking, I asked explicitly for a possibility to do both a cleaning and a checkup appointment since I have to take time off work. I was told it wasn't possible, and I was then booked for 4pm. However, in a couple of days I received a text notifying me that my appointment was moved to 3pm, without my consent or prior contact. I assumed - which admittedly in retrospect I shouldn't have - that there was an opening for both the checkup and the cleaning to be done at the same time, hence the rescheduling, but upon arrival I shortly found out it was just an appointment moved up without explicit agreement from my end, and I would still have to go back again, having taken extra time to come in early already. That brings me to my second visit. I was supposed to come in at 4pm, but on the day they asked me if I could come in at 3:30pm instead. I had some flexibility with work, so I chose to accommodate, however they still made me wait until pretty much 3:55pm when they finally were able to see me. They apologized for that - only after I asked if I would be seen shortly around 3:50pm. Then both the cleaning assistant and the dentist rushed through the work like there was a fire they were due to be putting out elsewhere, and as a result I ended up with a filling that started to feel off the moment the anesthesia began to subside. As a cherry on top, my final totals for the day were miscalculated, I was supposed to get a refund e-transferred which I never received, and having brought up my concerns about the filling feeling off as I was waiting for the accounting mistake to be rectified, I was essentially blamed for not noticing earlier when my mouth was still numb from anesthesia. And since the dentist was in such a hurry to rush out, I am supposed to be coming again. Very unfortunate, and I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere after this follow-up to get the filling adjusted. I really wanted to love the place since it was so conveniently located for me, but today was the last straw for sure.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Why Professional Teeth Whitening Delivers What Store Products Cannot
Walk through any pharmacy, and you will find an entire shelf dedicated to whitening—strips, pens, trays, toothpastes, and LED kits. Most of these products contain whitening agents at concentrations too low to produce meaningful results on deep or long-standing staining. Those that do contain stronger agents are frequently applied without an assessment of your gum health, existing restorations, or enamel condition—which is how sensitivity and uneven results happen.
Professional teeth whitening performed at Humber Bridge Dental works differently. The whitening agents used in our clinic are significantly stronger than anything available over the counter, applied in a controlled environment by a trained teeth whitening dentist, and tailored to your specific shade goals and sensitivity profile.
The result is a noticeably whiter smile — often several shades brighter — achieved safely, predictably, and with far less risk of sensitivity or uneven whitening than DIY alternatives.
Teeth Whitening Services at Humber Bridge Dental, Etobicoke
In-Office Professional Teeth Whitening
Our in-office whitening treatment delivers the fastest, most dramatic results available from a teeth whitening dentist. The procedure is completed in a single appointment at our Etobicoke clinic, making it the ideal option for patients with an upcoming event or those who simply want results without waiting.
During your appointment, Dr. Roger Avila or a member of our clinical team applies a professional-strength whitening gel directly to your teeth. Your gums and soft tissues are carefully protected throughout. The gel is activated and left to work for a set period, lifting deep staining from within the enamel.
Most patients leave their appointment with teeth that are visibly several shades whiter than when they arrived.
Take-Home Whitening Trays
For patients who prefer a more gradual whitening process or want to maintain their results between in-office treatments, we provide custom-fitted take-home whitening trays.
Unlike the generic trays included with over-the-counter kits, Humber Bridge Dental take-home trays are made from precise impressions of your teeth—ensuring even contact between the whitening gel and every tooth surface and minimizing gel contact with the gums.
We provide professional-strength whitening gel along with detailed instructions so you can whiten safely and effectively at your own pace from home.
Combined Whitening Treatment
For patients seeking the most complete whitening outcome, we combine in-office treatment with custom take-home trays. The in-office session delivers immediate visible results, and the take-home trays allow you to continue refining and maintaining your shade over the following weeks.
This approach is particularly popular with patients preparing for weddings, milestone events, or professional headshots, where they want the best possible outcome.
Is Professional Teeth Whitening Right for You?
Professional teeth whitening is safe and effective for the vast majority of patients. However, it is not suitable in every situation—which is exactly why having a trained teeth-whitening dentist assess your mouth before treatment matters.
- Teeth whitening works best for patients with:
- Healthy teeth and gums with no untreated decay or active gum disease
- Surface staining or age-related discolouration
- Natural tooth enamel that has not been significantly eroded
- Realistic expectations about the degree of whitening achievable
- Whitening may not be recommended, or results may be limited, if you have:
- Significant intrinsic or antibiotic-related staining
- Heavily restored front teeth with crowns, veneers, or large white fillings
- Untreated cavities or active gum disease that needs to be addressed first
- Severe enamel erosion or exposed root surfaces
At your consultation, Dr. Avila assesses your oral health, reviews your whitening goals, and recommends the treatment most likely to deliver results you will be genuinely happy with — not just the most expensive option available.
What to Expect After Your Whitening Treatment
Your teeth may feel slightly sensitive for 24 to 48 hours following in-office whitening. This is a normal response to the whitening process and resolves on its own without treatment for the majority of patients. Using a sensitivity toothpaste in the days before and after your appointment helps significantly.
Avoid deeply pigmented foods and drinks—coffee, tea, red wine, and tomato sauce—for 48 hours after treatment. This is the window during which enamel pores are most open and most susceptible to restaining.
Professional whitening results typically last between one and three years depending on your diet, lifestyle habits, and oral hygiene routine. Patients who drink coffee or tea regularly or use tobacco will see results fade faster than those who do not.
Touch-up sessions — either in-office or using take-home trays — help maintain your shade over time. At Humber Bridge Dental, we build a maintenance plan into every whitening consultation so your results last as long as possible.
Regular professional cleaning appointments also play a role. Surface staining is removed at every cleaning visit, which helps preserve your whitened shade between treatments.
Why Etobicoke Patients Choose Humber Bridge Dental for Teeth Whitening
Supervised by an Experienced Teeth Whitening Dentist
Dr. Roger Avila assesses every whitening patient before treatment begins—checking for untreated decay, gum health, enamel condition, and existing restorations that could affect results. This is the fundamental difference between professional whitening and doing it yourself at home.

Tailored to Your Smile, Not a Generic Protocol
No two smiles are identical. The shade you start from, the type of staining involved, your sensitivity history, and your goal shade all influence the whitening approach Dr. Avila recommends. You receive a plan designed specifically for you — not a one-size-fits-all treatment.
Gentle on Sensitive Teeth
Tooth sensitivity is the most common concern patients raise about professional whitening. At Humber Bridge Dental, we take sensitivity seriously. We assess your baseline sensitivity before treatment, use professional-grade desensitizing agents where appropriate, and adjust the protocol if needed to ensure your experience is comfortable from start to finish.
Trusted Across Etobicoke
Patients consistently highlight the visible, lasting results of whitening at Humber Bridge Dental and the care Dr. Avila takes to manage expectations and deliver outcomes patients are genuinely pleased with.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions — Teeth Whitening Etobicoke
How many shades whiter will my teeth get?
Results vary depending on the type and severity of staining, your baseline tooth shade, and the whitening method used.
Is professional teeth whitening safe?
Yes. When performed or supervised by a trained teeth-whitening dentist, professional whitening is safe for the enamel and soft tissues.
How long does teeth whitening last?
Professional whitening results typically last one to three years. The longevity of your results depends on your consumption of staining foods and drinks, whether you use tobacco, and how consistently you maintain your oral hygiene and cleaning appointments.
Does teeth whitening work on crowns, veneers, or fillings?
No. Whitening agents only work on natural tooth enamel. Existing crowns, veneers, and composite fillings will not change colour during whitening treatment.
Is teeth whitening suitable for sensitive teeth?
Many patients with mild to moderate sensitivity can still undergo professional whitening safely. Dr. Avila assesses your sensitivity level before treatment, uses desensitizing protocols where appropriate, and can adjust the whitening approach to reduce discomfort.
How is professional whitening different from whitening toothpaste?
Whitening toothpastes work by removing surface staining through mild abrasion. They do not penetrate enamel and cannot lift deep or intrinsic discolouration .
Do I need a cleaning before teeth whitening?
In most cases, yes. A professional cleaning removes surface plaque, tartar, and staining before whitening begins, allowing the whitening agent to contact the enamel evenly and maximize your results.
